Martin Luther wrote these propositions in order to engage in a debate with fellow theologians. How do the issues Luther present for debate illustrate the problems in the Church of his day? Once you have formulated a thesis, you must then proceed to prove it with a clear, concise argument. In order to fully support your thesis in just 300-500 words, you must plan your argument very carefully. Outline your argument using clear and specific examples. These are essays, not research papers, so be careful that your essay presents and defends an argument and does not simply list facts that are only tangentially related to the topic.
